After many years at Dortmund, Buvac left the club on [[Jurgen Klopp]]’s resignation. On 8 October 2015, Klopp was appointed as manager of Liverpool, and it was confirmed that several members of his previous backroom staff would be joining him, with Buvac being confirmed as assistant manager.

On 6 February 2016, Buvac took charge of the Reds for a 2-2 draw with Sunderland, with Klopp was absent due to appendicitis. This was the only game Buvac managed in his Liverpool career.

On 30 April 2018, it was announced by the club that Buvac was to take a leave of absence for the rest of the [[2017-18 season]], due to “personal reasons”. This caused him to miss the [[2018 Champions League Final|Champions League final]], which the Reds went on to lose 3-1 to Real Madrid.

Željko Buvač (born 13 September 1961) is a Bosnian-Serb football coach, who was the assistant manager of Liverpool F.C. from 2015 to 2018. He was Jurgen Klopp's right hand man, serving as his assistant at FSV Mainz 05 having previously played alongside him at the club. Buvac continued his role as Klopp's assistant at Borussia Dortmund, and eventually Liverpool before their partnership ended in 2018.

Liverpool career

After many years at Dortmund, Buvac left the club on Jurgen Klopp’s resignation. On 8 October 2015, Klopp was appointed as manager of Liverpool, and it was confirmed that several members of his previous backroom staff would be joining him, with Buvac being confirmed as assistant manager.
