Yusuf Mersin (born 23 September 1994) is an English-born Turkish footballer who played for the Liverpool Academy and Reserves as a goalkeeper.
Liverpool career[]
Liverpool brought Mersin to their academy in January 2011 from Millwall. He made his debut for the Under 18s in the 2011-12 season, and has also made the bench for the Reserves, however he fell behind the likes of Tyrell Belford and Danny Ward in the pecking order for the youth sides. He continued to struggle for game time in the 2012-13 season, and was able to only make one appearance for the U18s as Ryan Fulton dominated the number one jersey. Despite this, he continued to be held in high esteem by the coaching staff, and took the goalkeepers jersey for seven of the U21s 22 matches during the 2013-14 season. Mersin was however not retained by the club past this season, and he was released in May 2014.
As a player, he is commended for his commanding presence in the penalty area and was a popular figure at Kirkby.
