Vítězslav Jaroš (born 23 July 2001) is a Czech international footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Liverpool.

Liverpool career[]

Jaros joined Liverpool for Sparta Prague in 2017, and quickly became a key member of the Reds’ U18s side, managed at the time by Steven Gerrard. He quickly rose through the ranks, playing a vital part in the 2019 FA Youth Cup victory, before being promoted to the U23s.

This also saw him rewarded with his first senior involvement, making his unofficial debut in pre-season, before being included on the substitutes bench for an FA Cup tie in February 2020. The next couple of years saw Jaros spend some time on loan, with spells at St. Patrick’s, Notts County, and Stockport County, before returning to Liverpool in the summer of 2023.

Despite returning, Jaros found little to no first-team action, making just three appearances on the substitutes bench, remaining firmly behind Alisson, Caoimhin Kelleher and Adrian in the pecking order. On 9 January 2024, it was announced that Jaros had signed a new contract with the club, before joining Sturm Graz for the remainder of the campaign.

The loan spell saw great success, with the goalkeeper making 21 appearances and helping his side to a league and cup double. Jaros wanted to spend the following season in Austria with Graz, but the departure of Adrian made him the club’s third-choice goalkeeper, and he was convinced to remain at the club by new head coach, Arne Slot.

On 5 October 2024, due to Caoimhin Kelleher’s illness, Jaros was included on the substitutes bench as the Reds faced Crystal Palace away in the Premier League. With 10 minutes remaining, Alisson was forced off through injury, granting Jaros a surprise debut. The goalkeeper put in a solid performance, making a couple of saves and keeping the clean sheet in a 1-0 victory.

Just over three weeks later, Jaros made his first start for the club, playing the 90 minutes in a 3-2 win away to Brighton in the EFL Cup.
