Victor Moses (born 12 December 1990) is a Nigerian international footballer who currently played as a winger for Liverpool during the 2013-14 season, on loan from Chelsea.

Liverpool career[]

Despite a summer transfer drive from Liverpool that saw two new forwards recruited in the shape of Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas, manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed his desire to add a further forward to his squad who could play on the left flank. Reports surfaced that Liverpool were keen on a loan deal for out-of-favour Chelsea forward Victor Moses. The signing was confirmed on 2 September 2013, reportedly for a £1,500,000 loan fee. Moses was handed the number 12 shirt for the season, recently vacated by Dani Pacheco.

Moses made a goalscoring debut for Liverpool on 16 September 2013. He started the match away to Swansea and in the 36th minute, he capitalised on a poor pass from former Red Jonjo Shelvey to drive at the Swansea defence, cut inside and place a shot in the far corner of the net. Moses however failed to build on this promising start, and after a few underwhelming displays, he found himself spending most of his matchday time on the bench. On 25 January 2014, Moses scored his second goal for the club, controlling a cross field ball and firing it into the near post in a 2-0 away win over Bournemouth in the FA Cup.

On 5 May 2014, with Liverpool playing their penultimate match of the season away at Crystal Palace, and still harbouring hopes of winning the league title, Moses was brought on with Liverpool 3-2 ahead. The Reds had contrived to squander a 3-0 lead and Crystal Palace proceded to net a third to level the tie. With Liverpool's title hopes seemingly evaporating, Moses failed to connect with the ball when it dropped to his feet in the box, in front of an open goal in the dying moments of the match. This turned out to be Moses' final Liverpool appearance.
