2006 FA Cup Final

Liverpool won the 2006 FA Cup Final, beating West Ham on penalties on 13 May 2006 at the Millenium Stadium, Cardiff. Liverpool saw themselves 2-0 down 28 minutes into the match, following a Jamie Carragher own goal, and an error from Pepe Reina. They managed to claw their way back into the game on 32 minutes when Djibril Cisse volleyed in a Steven Gerrard cross. Liverpool equalised in the 54th minute, this time through a Steven Gerrard volley, after Peter Crouch headed the ball down to him. The stalemate lasted for ten minutes. With full time approaching, Gerrard provided a 30 yard strike to tie the match, and take it into added time. Reina was able to atone for his previous errors by saving three penalties in the penalty shootout, and winning Liverpool the match. (more...)
