Stephen Frank Arnold (born 5 January 1951) is a former English footballer who played for Liverpool from 1970 to 1973 as a midfielder. He made just two appearances for Liverpool.
Liverpool career[]
Shortly after breaking into the Crewe Alexandra team, Arnold was spotted by Liverpool and signed for the Reds on 9 September 1970 for £12,000. His debut came on 16 January 1971 in a 1-0 loss against Crystal Palace. Arnold's first and only start for the club came in more controversial circumstances on 26 April 1971 in 2-2 draw against Manchester City. With Liverpool taking part in a Inter-Cities Fairs Cup semi-final second leg match against Leeds United on 28 April, manager Bill Shankly made 10 changes to the team to play Manchester City, which brought upon a fine from the Football League.
The remainder of Arnold's time at Liverpool was spent in the reserve team, along with loan spells at Southport and Torquay in 1972. He left Liverpool in June 1973 having made just two appearances in all competitions in his three seasons at the club.
