Ryan Kent (born 11 November 1996) is an English footballer who played as a winger for Liverpool.

Liverpool career

Kent joined Liverpool in the mid-2000s as an U9s player. A highly-rated youngster described as a versatile midfielder, Kent tends to play in an advanced position just behind the striker or out on the flanks. After progressing through the ranks, Kent made eight appearances for the U18s during their 2012-13 season and was also involved in a NextGen Series tie and has been classed as the next Wayne Rooney.

In the 2013-14 U18s season, Kent was one of the star performers as he racked up 27 appearances and netted four goals. He began to make his breakthrough into the U21s towards the end of the their season, making over thirty appearances for the side.

On 10 September 2015, Kent was sent out to Coventry City on a youth loan until January. After a productive spell, Kent was recalled on 8 January 2016, and later made his first Liverpool appearance, starting and playing around an hour in a 2-2 draw at Exeter.

Kent featured at the start of pre-season, picking up a couple of assists in a 5-0 win at Fleetwood. On 26 July 2016, it was confirmed that Kent had went on loan to Barnsley for the 2016-17 season, with a clause in the contract requiring him to play in at least 75% of their games for the season. Kent had a successful season at the club, and was named Barnsley's Young Player of the Year.

The youngster returned to Liverpool for pre-season, and put in some impressive performances leading to speculation that Kent would stay as part of the first-team setup for the 2017-18 season. On 11 August 2017, Kent signed a new five-year contract with the club.

Despite this, on 31 August 2017, it was confirmed that Kent had been sent out on loan to Freiburg for the rest of the season. After making just six appearances in Germany, Kent returned to Liverpool on 8 January 2018. Days later he was sent out to Bristol City on another loan spell until the end of the season.

Kent returned for pre-season, and scored a fine goal in the opening friendly, a 7-0 win over Chester. On 20 July, it was confirmed that Kent was to join Rangers on a year-long loan spell, linking up with Ovie Ejaria who had been sent there on loan earlier in the summer.

A year later, it was confirmed that a deal had been agreed for Kent to sign for the Scottish club on a permanent deal, worth around £6,500,000.
