Liverpool careerEdit

Keane was brought from Tottenham Hotspur on 28 July 2008 for a reported fee of £19,000,000, which could potentially rise to £20,300,000 based on performances. After a standard medical Keane signed a four year contract and was given the number 7 shirt. Upon joining, Keane stated that "joining Liverpool is a lifelong dream of mine and one I couldn't let pass me by." He made his debut on 13 August 2008 in a Champions League 3rd Qualifiying Round 1st leg against Standard Liege in a 0-0 stalemate. His first goal in a Liverpool shirt came on 1 October 2008 against PSV Eindhoven when he scored a 34th minute goal in the Champions League group stages.

After a disappointing spell at Liverpool, scoring only 5 league goals in 19 appearances, Keane was sold back to Tottenham for £12,000,000 (potentially raising to £16,000,000 plus add-ons based on performance).
