Rio Chima Ngumoha (born 29 August 2008) is an English footballer who currently plays as a winger for Liverpool. Ngumoha signed from Chelsea’s Academy in 2024, before making his debut in 2025. He is currently the club’s youngest goalscorer of all-time, after firing in a 100th minute winner at Newcastle on his Premier League debut.
Liverpool career[]
In the summer of 2024, it emerged that Ngumoha, a young star, was set to leave the Chelsea Academy, with Liverpool set to be his destination. The move was finally confirmed on 4 September, with the youngster joining the Reds’ U18 side.
After some electric performances, Arne Slot brought Ngumoha into the first-team fold, with him training with the senior side in the Autumn, before featuring in the squad for the first time in a 2-1 win at Southampton in the EFL Cup, but not making it off the bench.
On 11 January 2025, Ngumoha made his Liverpool debut, starting and putting in an impressive performances in a 4-0 win over Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup. He became the youngest player to ever start a game for the club.
He again featured on the bench for the next round, a 1-0 defeat to Plymouth, but didn’t make have any further senior involvement through the rest of the campaign.
In the summer, Ngumoha proved a revelation in pre-season, featuring heavily and scoring three times in the Reds’ friendly games. The youngsters performances, as well as the departure of Luis Diaz led to speculation of there being more game-time in the upcoming season.
On 25 August 2025, Ngumoha made history. The youngster came on for his Premier League debut, as the scores were locked at 2-2 away to Newcastle. In the 100th minute, Ngumoha was put through on-goal after some lovely work from Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai, and fired home the winning goal, becoming Liverpool’s youngest ever goalscorer, and securing the 3 points.
