When the summer transfer window opened, Jovanovic was informed by Liverpool that he was free to seek a new club, with Liverpool not requiring a transfer fee. Jovanovic revealed on 9th July 2011 that he had held discussions with Anderlecht and Club Brugge regarding a move back to Belgium.

Milan Jovanovic (born 18 April 1981) is a Serbian footballer currently playing as a attacking midfielder and striker for Liverpool.

Liverpool career

Jovanovic was signed on a free transfer on 8 July 2010 after his contact with Standard Liège expired. Although he signed his pre-contract for Liverpool while Rafael Benitez was still manager he decided to honor it even though Benitez resigned before the summer transfer period. He was given the number 14 shirt last worn my Xabi Alonso.
