Michael James Roberts (born 5 December 1991) is an English footballer who played for the Liverpool Academy and Liverpool Reserves as a midfielder.

Liverpool career

Liverpool signed Liverpudlian Roberts from cross city rivals Tranmere Rovers in 2008. He made his debut for the under-18s in the 2007-08 season, before going on to be a key member of the side for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons. He then progressed to be a regular in the Reserves, and in the 2011-12 season it was the second string that he solely played for. Despite appearing in the majority of the Reserves' games that season, Roberts was released at the end of the campaign. In June 2012, shortly after being released by the club, the young midfielder went all out to get a tan whilst on holiday in Greece. Reports from sources inside the city, say the midfielder failed to acheive his goal, and is now looking for his next holiday destination. A defensive midfielder by trade, he was described by Liverpool as a player who is not afraid to put in a good tackle, and is also commended for his simple but effective passing game.
