Ki-Jana Delano Hoever (born 18 January 2002) is a Dutch footballer who plays as a defender for Liverpool.

Liverpool career

Hoever signed for Liverpool in the summer of 2018, signing from Ajax for a minimal compensation fee, despite interest from top clubs around the world.

On 15 September 2018, Hoever made his first appearance for the U18s side, starting at centre-back in a 4-1 win over Newcastle. Hoever continued to star for the young side, before quickly being moved up to the U23s side in November. His impressive performances led to the Dutchman training with the first-team squad.

On 7 January 2019, Hoever was included on the substitutes bench for an FA Cup tie away to Wolves. Six minutes in, Dejan Lovren suffered an injury, and Hoever was forced to replace him, becoming Liverpool’s youngest ever player in the FA Cup, at 16 years, 11 months and 5 days. The Dutchman put in an admirable performance at centre-back, despite the Reds falling to a 2-1 defeat.

In the summer, Hoever joined up with the first-team squad for pre-season, appearing in almost every friendly the club took part in. On 31 July 2019, Hoever signed his first professional contract with the club. Two weeks later, he was included on the substitutes bench for the UEFA Super Cup victory over Chelsea, and received a winners medal.

On 25 September 2019, Hoever made his first Liverpool start, playing almost the full 90 minutes in a League Cup win over MK Dons. In the 69th minute, the Dutchman rose to meet a James Milner cross, and headed in his first Liverpool goal, making him one of the club's youngest ever goalscorers.
