Jayden Danns (born 16 January 2006) is an English footballer who plays as a forward for Liverpool, having come through the academy.
Liverpool career[]
Born in the city, Danns joined the Liverpool academy in 2014, at 8 years old.
The youngster rose through the ranks at Anfield, making his debut for the U18s side in 2022 and quickly becoming a regular feature.
In the Autumn of 2023, Danns began to attract some attention for his goalscoring feats with U18s, being recognised as a prospect with a lot of potential. The youngster managed to pick up 21 goals by early February.
Danns’ impressive performances and an injury crisis led to recognition from the senior team. On 21 February 2024, Danns was handed his senior debut, coming on as a late substitute, and playing a huge part in Harvey Elliott’s goal as the Reds beat Luton 4-1 in the Premier League.
On 25 February 2024, Danns was included in the squad for the EFL Cup final. The youngster was brought on in the 87th minute of normal time, and played the entirety of extra-time as Liverpool beat Chelsea through a Virgil van Dijk header. The youngster put in an assured display and was unlucky to be denied through a good day early in extra-time. He picked up his first senior trophy and winner’s medal in just his 2nd senior appearance.
Three days later, Danns was introduced as a substitute in the 63rd minute, as Liverpool led Southampton 1-0 in the FA Cup. Danns sealed a 3-0 victory with his first two goals for the club, in front of the Kop at Anfield. The first was a delicate chip over the goalkeeper after having been put through by Harvey Elliott, while the second was an excellent reactive finish after a Conor Bradley shot had been saved.
