Harvey Elliott (born 4 April 2003) is an English footballer who plays as a midfielder for Liverpool F.C.

Liverpool career[]

A boyhood Liverpool fan, Elliott became the youngest footballer in Premier League history during Fulham's 2018-19 campaign, at just 16 years and 30 days. With his contract set to expire during the summer, a lot of top clubs took interest in signing the youngster, including Arsenal and Manchester City.

It was Liverpool whoever, who reached an agreement to sign Elliott, with the midfielder being spotted viewing a pre-season game, as well as training with the first-team at Melwood. On 28 July 2019, it was confirmed that Elliott had signed for Liverpool on a five-year deal, for an undisclosed fee that had been agreed with Fulham. Elliott was handed the number 67 shirt, and made his senior debut as a substitute in a 3-0 defeat to Napoli.

On 7 August 2019, Elliott made his debut for the U23s side, starting in an EFL Trophy tie away to Oldham, and scored in an eventual 3-2 defeat.

A week later, Elliott was included on the substitutes bench for the UEFA Super Cup, as Liverpool beat Chelsea on penalties. Elliott received a winners medal, his first senior honour.

On 25 September 2019, Elliott made his Liverpool debut, playing the full 90 minutes in a 2-0 win over MK Dons at 16 years and 174 days, making him the club's youngest ever starter. Elliott put in a great impression, and was desperately unlucky not to score, being denied twice by the crossbar. A month later, he made his Anfield debut, starting in a penalty shootout win over Arsenal, after a 5-5 draw in normal-time. This made him the youngest ever Liverpool player to appear at Anfield.

On 2 January 2020, Elliott made his first Premier League appearance for the club, coming on as a late substitute in a 2-0 win over Sheffield Utd. He made a handful more senior appearances throughout the rest of the campaign, but didn't receive play enough to qualify for a Premier League winners medal at the end of the season.

On 24 September 2020, Elliott made his first appearance of the 2020-21 season, starting in a 7-2 win at Lincoln, and assisting a Curtis Jones strike. A few weeks later however, the youngster was sent out on loan to Blackburn Rovers for the rest of the campaign.

After a successful spell at Blackburn, including a nomination for EFL Young Player of the Season, Elliott returned to Liverpool ahead of pre-season for the 2021-22 season. In his friendly appearances, he was often utilised in a deeper midfield role, and put in impressive showings to put himself in contention for more first-team football. He came on as a substitute on the opening day of the season, a 3-0 win at Norwich.

On 21 August 2021, Elliott was given his first Premier League start, playing the full 90 minutes in a 2-0 win over Burnley. A week later he was given his biggest appearance so far, playing the entirety of a 1-1 draw with Chelsea, and putting in an impressive and assured performance.

Elliott kept his spot for the following game away to Leeds, and put in another impressive showing. Seconds before his substitution was planned however, the youngster was on the receiving end of a challenge from Pascal Struijk, which dislocated Elliott's ankle, potentially ruling him out for the rest of the campaign. He underwent a successful surgery two days later, and declared that the 'road to recovery starts now'.

The youngster's recovery surpassed earlier predictions, and he returned to full first-team training in January.

On 6 February 2022, Elliott made his return from injury, coming on as a 58th minute substitute at home to Cardiff in the FA Cup. Elliott made an instant impression, firing in his first Liverpool goal with an impressive finish, to give the Reds a 3-1 win. Ten days later, he made his Champions League debut, starting and playing the first hour in a 2-0 win away to Inter Milan.

On 27 February 2022, Elliott came on as a substitute in the EFL Cup final against Chelsea, playing the final twelve minutes of normal time, as well as the entirety of extra-time. The youngster was forced to step up in the penalty shootout as the Reds' ninth taker, and put in an assured finish, as Liverpool went on to lift the cup.

After this however, first-team opportunities became more limited, and Elliott was restricted to just three further appearances for the rest of the campaign. He did however, pick up an FA Cup winners medal, as the Reds once again defeated Chelsea at Wembley.

On 2 July 2022, it was announced that Elliott would take the number 19 shirt for the 2022-23 season.
