Federico Chiesa (born 25 October 1997) is an Italian international footballer who currently plays as a forward for Liverpool, signing from Juventus in 2024.

Liverpool career

Throughout Arne Slot’s first summer at the club, Liverpool did not show much activity in the transfer market. There was reported interest in Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad in early August, but the move never materialised.

Late on in August, a move was agreed to sign Giorgio Mamardashvili, but the goalkeeper would spent the 2024-25 season at Valencia, meaning there was still no improvement to the first-team squad for the upcoming campaign.

On 27 August 2024, reports began to emerge of Liverpool interest in Federico Chiesa, an exciting attacker for Juventus. The Italian had lit up Euro 2020, but had struggled with injuries in the subsequent seasons. Two days later, it was officially confirmed that Chiesa had signed for the club, for a reported fee of just £10,000,000.

Chiesa became the first Italian to sign for the club since Mario Balotelli in 2014, and took the number 14 shirt, last worn by Jordan Henderson.
