Fabio Aurelio (born 24 September 1979) is a Brazilian footballer currently playing left-back for Liverpool.

Liverpool Career

On July 3, 2006 the Liverpool Echo published an interview with Aurélio where he explained "I am going to a new club in which the trainer knows me, to see if I can conquer the objectives I have set myself. The most important moments I had in my career were the titles (with Valencia) and that was with Benitez. He trusted me and he continues to trust me and that is what I value more." On July 5 the transfer was confirmed by Liverpool.

On March 31, 2007, Aurelio played a key part in Liverpool's 4–1 win over Arsenal providing two assists for Peter Crouch and Daniel Agger.

On April 3, 2007 in the UEFA Champions League first leg tie against PSV Eindhoven, Aurelio was stretchered off the field on the 73rd minute after rupturing his achilles tendon. After receiving the ball Aurelio immediately yelled out in pain and reached for his calf. Achilles injuries tend to "pop" and can be heard by people close by. On the replays Aurelio can clearly be seen looking immediately behind him to look at what he thought had hit him, such as the force of the tendon snapping. Fabio was immediately stretchered off the field to be replaced by winger Mark Gonzalez. Fabio missed the rest of Liverpool's 2006–07 campaign, returning to the squad on September 18, 2007, coming on as a substitute in the 1–1 draw against F.C. Porto in the Champions League group phase.
