N'gog signed for Liverpool from PSG in July 2008 for a reported fee of £1,500,000. He made his debut in the pre season friendly against Villarreal on 30 July 2008. He scored his first goal on 2 August 2008. N'Gog made his league debut against Aston Villa on 31 August 2008. His first competitive goal came in the Champion's League group stage match against PSV Eindhoven on 9 December 2008. N'Gog made his first start against Portsmouth on 7 February 2009. His first Premier league goal came on 3 March 2009 in the 2-0 home win against Sunderland.
Due to N'Gog's age and low scoring return he has mostly been used as a substitute during his career at Liverpool, starting only when senior strikers were sidelined due to injury.
On 31 August 2011, Liverpool confirmed the sale of N'Gog to Premier League rivals Bolton Wanderers for a fee speculated to be in the region of £4,000,000.
