Christian Bjørnshøj Poulsen (born 28 February 1980) is a Danish international footballer who played for Liverpool from 2010-2011.
Liverpool career[]
Poulsen signed for Liverpool on 11 August 2010 from Italian side Juventus for £4,500,000. Poulsen linked up with Roy Hodgson who was also his manager at FC Copenhagen, Poulsen said "I had two good years with him so I hope to carry that on, and hopefully he'll be satisfied with my qualities." Poulsen also accepted that with the move to Liverpool comes a lot of pressure, "With this move here I have a lot to prove. If you come to a club like Liverpool, you have to deliver."
He made his debut against Turkish side Trabzonspor in a Europa League play-off qualifier on 19 August 2010 in which he had a goal disallowed. His first league appearance came in a 1-0 win against West Brom on 29 August 2010. Poulsen figured regularly under Roy Hodgson, but when he was replaced as manager by Kenny Dalglish, his appearances became less frequent - often being left on the bench.
Poulsen however still maintained that he had a future at Liverpool stating "What I miss of course is playing more but I hope the future will be brighter for me at Liverpool. I have two years of my contract left so yes I think my future will be here."
On 30 August 2011, Liverpool confirmed that they had reached an agreement with Evian Thonon Gaillard to bring Poulsen to France. Poulsen sealed his move on 31 August 2011.
