Alex O'Hanlon (born 20 September 1996) is an Irish footballer who plays for the Liverpool Academy as a left back from 2011 to 2016.

Liverpool career[]

Liverpool signed O'Hanlon on 19 May 2011 from the Dublin-based St. Kevin's Boys Club, beating off competition from a number of other elite clubs- most notably Manchester United. There was also reported interest from some major European sides, including Real Madrid. Liverpool payed St. Kevin's Boys an undisclosed compensation package for the young starlet's signature. O'Hanlon played for the Liverpool Under 16s during his debut season with the club, however he was promoted to the Under 18s for the 2012-13 season. O'Hanlon had an encouraging season with the U18s, initially competing as a left back, but as the season progressed, he appeared more in an attacking capacity before excelling in the number 10 role. Liverpool rewarded O'Hanlon's progress with a professional contract at the end of the season. O'Hanlon starred for the U18s in the 2013-14 season, scoring seven goals in 28 games.

O'Hanlon is tipped to have a bright future in the game, as evidenced by the fierce competition for his signature from some of Europe's premier footballing sides. His proficiency on the left flank in both an attacking and defensive role has seen him frequently likened to Tottenham star Gareth Bale.

On 10 June 2016, O'Hanlon was released from the club after his contract expired.
