Liverpool won the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup on 21 December 2019 with a 1-0 victory over Flamengo. Liverpool qualified for the Super Cup as the 2019 Champions League winners, while Flamengo were triumphant in the Copa Libertadores. This was Liverpool's first ever victory in the competition, and made them only the second English winner.
