The 1986-87 season was Liverpool's 95th season of football since they were established. Although Liverpool failed to win any of the main tournaments this season, they did find some success in the Screen Sport Super Cup (origins of cup explained in 1985-86 season) which had carried on from the previous season. Liverpool did manage to stay in the top two in the league, finishing as runners-up to rivals Everton. There was also yet another Wembley outing - when Liverpool were beaten by Arsenal in the 1987 League Cup Final.
